June 2011 and Beyond

Our next meeting is June 19th at 3pm at Rosie's Art Carnival. Maryan is going to teach us how to make the accordian holder for ATC's. Each person will bring 6 ATC's that use one of the colors of the rainbow so that it is obvious and predominant. Other than color, the card can be any theme:

Red -Rosie
Orange - Maryan
Yellow - Pam
Green - Pattie
Blue - Beverley
Violet - Donna

Mayan will let us know what supplies we need to bring.

We will meet again on July 10th at 3pm at Maryan's. Each person is to bring 6 cards that are mechanical in some way...for example the fold up animals Maryan brought to our May meeting.

In August we will have nothing due and no meeting so those also invloved with the A.A. group can concentrate on the exhibit at the Silver Lining.

On September 18th at a time and location TBD we will present the "Bird Challenge" This is whatever you have made using all or some portion of the items each member has tossed in the pot...sort of like a "stone soup" of art. So far we have the following items:

chipboard bird from Pam
small cardboard cube from Bev
weird yellow paper and a tiny metal frame from Donna

Rosie, Maryan and Pattie will toss in an item no later than our June meeting.

2011 Trades for March, April, May

Wow! I am always just so amazed at the work we do and just so grateful that we were brought together as a group...whether is was through new astrology, old astrology, divine intervention, past lives, a worm hole or just plain coincidence.

A simple assignment to bind some 4" x 6" cards together turned into an exhibit of beautifully engineered book construction. And Beverley's Challenge....I can't wait to post the images...how different could the same ingredients be?

I'm looking forward to what we can do to inspire one another in 2011. Here is the schedule of trades through May.

Sunday, March 13th Meeting: Altoid Tin Book. Using Maryan's example for inspiration, we will essentially combine our last 2 trades..Beverley's Altoid Tin Challenge, and the Postcard Book. Make a book using the Altoid Tin as the cover/container. No other theme, so the sky is the limit. Bring it to the meeting. Place to be determined.

Sunday April 10th Meeting: Ultra Special ATC Trade. This is just what it sounds like. You have a month to make one ATC. 2.5 x 3.5 " of exquisite art. Use your best stuff...you know what I mean...the stuff you have that you don't use, cuz then you won't have it anymore! Make a special presentation for your card...an envelope, a folder, a little bag. You won't know who is getting your card, or what you will receive until the meeting.

Sunday May 8th Meeting: Collaborative ATC #3! Okay, here is the schedule and the trade progression.

March 13th - Background Trade

March 20th - Focal Point Trade

March 27th - "Words" Trade

April 10th - Embellishment Trade

April 17th - Edges Trade

April 24th - Envelope Trade

Pamela trades to Beverley

Beverley trades to Rosie

Rosie trades to Donna

Donna trades to Patti

Patti trades to Maryan

Maryan trades to Pamela

For the historical record I used the 4th letter in our first names to come up with this progression. I hope most have a different person to trade to or recieve from.

Now for the parameters of the trade. The subject matter of the ATC's is "The Year of the Rabbit". So theme is determined...all the cards will be about the year of the rabbit. You will make 6 cards so we each have a set at the end. In each progression you will use something from the bag of materials Donna gave you at today's meeting. That includes the different joss papers, the red/black "fruit picks" and the red/gold envelopes. You can add additional elements, but you must use something from the bag...as much or as little as you want. You can alter the items in the bag as much or as little as you want.

Let the 6@ 2011 Games begin!!!!
